A plane-crash in Sweden killed every one of the nine passengers on board.

The plane crashed close to a runway at Orebro airport while it was reportedly taking off Thursday for a skydiving run, the BBC reported. The crash resulted in the deaths of all eight skydivers on board as well as the pilot, according to the BBC.

The plane was reportedly a tiny propeller plane called a DHC-2 Beaver that was rented out by a local skydiving club that was hosting a summer event, Orebro County Governor Maria Larsson claimed, according to the Associated Press.

When the plane crashed in an open field off the runway, it reportedly burst into flames upon impact, the AP reported. Per-Ove Staberyd, the local fire chief who coordinated the response to the crash, said “There were no lives to save,” on board the plane, according to the AP.

Deputy regional police chief Niclas Hallgren said the crash was a “very severe accident” Friday, as authorities confirmed, “Everyone on board the crashed plane has died,” the AP noted.

The crash is still under investigation by the Swedish Accident Investigation Authority, the AP reported, which Hallgren said will be “a difficult job. It will take its time.” (RELATED: Missing Plane With 28 Passengers Crashes In Eastern Russia)

“It is with great sadness and sorrow that I have received the tragic information about the plane crash in Orebro,” Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven tweeted of the incident, the BBC noted. Expressing his condolences, the prime minister added “My thoughts are with the victims, their families and loved ones in this very difficult time.”

This is not the first time an incident like this happened in Sweden. In 2019, a plane carrying parachute jumpers crashed shortly after taking off, according to the BBC. The crash killed nine people, and an investigation revealed the plane was improperly loaded.
