Officials at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas, placed the base on lockdown Thursday morning due to an active shooter, numerous sources reported.

The shooting reportedly began at around 6:15 a.m., when shots could be heard, prompting the lockdown of the base’s entrances. The shooter was neutralized by around 7:30 a.m., KVUE reported.

The Navy is reporting one security force member with an injury.

The base announced the shooting with a Facebook post: “NAS Corpus Christi is now in a lockdown status. There is an active shooter in the vicinity of the North Gate. If you are in or near the North Gate get out and away to safety. Execute lockdown procedures” remain indoors and away from windows.”

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) and local law enforcement have responded to the incident, and all gates to the facility remain closed.
